‘Lazy’ in pet name called comfort!!

Don’t be lazy to set minimum level of required security!

Information Technology era shrinks the global economy into small virtual village with good and bad, as always two side of one coin, yes as usual olds were foresighted. Internet, Cloud and Big data are now great enabler for business and life. But some where we should keep the limit as it’s shouldn’t peak nose into our privacy and healthy life!!!  Each new technology brings human to more comfort than had and its make humans lazier and weaker. Anyway here I’m not focusing on life style and health impacts. As I’m fan of Wills Smith and his movie I, Robot, in the movie plot robot had the “three laws of robotics”   directives - to never harm a human or let a human come to harm, to always obey humans unless this violates the First Law, and to protect its own existence unless this violates the First or Second Laws. The reason I mentioned here human is important than any other. But our views are changing, Yes, we all are grown in different atmospheres, have difference experience in life and it’s inherits in thought process. As said we shrinks to small with help (or hurt) of technologies, we losing human natures of kinds, thinking and thanking.

We are happy to upload and share private information with our friends online, and say ‘Hello’ in Facebook or tweet, to whom stay in next door!!? This is one side of the coin as technology makes human lazier in pet name called comfort!! Anyway, We all use webcams and CCTV (or baby monitor) to see our family remotely, or store personal details in clear text in cloud (Mails , cloud storage like G Drive, Dropbox, Flicker, health & financial trackers, etc..). These are the place we should kept minimum security level according to the sensitivity of the data upload, simply don’t mix the data where kept public and private, virtually draw a line between.

Google hacking and Shodan (http://www.shodanhq.com/) search tools is very good examples where we can find in our virtual village exposed devices and data’s easily if someone decided. Example; search for “inurl:main.cgi Linksys” in Google and see how many devices (here CCTVs) can directly access without password and its same for many level of security !! Does humans are lazier to set a password for this?

When’s come to privacy, we all are concern when our sensitive information’s goes public, and same manner there are peoples in our virtual village too  eager to know our  personal information’s to make  business road maps for them. As I heard father said “Laws created for humans, not humans created for laws”, but in present tent to see that peoples bending laws of machine to make benefit for them. Side effects of that we are now hearing the term ‘Cyber Threats’. If we keep a line between public and private and set minimum required steps to secure the private classified data’s, instead of simply throwing into internet as public classified data’s. And make sure we do Antivirus update periodically and enabled for auto protection, its can avoid vast range of attacks unbelievably along with auto update on applications.  Secondly, understand none is going to give any service on free!!!  Keep distance from free services understand the motives behind before use the service for private data.  In a sense, don’t use same mobile for private data storage and free games and surprise free apps! :)   And we can use internet for the anti-theft guidelines too! Don’t be lazy to get few more steps along with comforts.

Ecosystem activist as printing it on flex and papers!!!
